WellPoint NextRx Prescription Drug Benefits

Trustmark Affinity Markets teams with WellPoint NextRx to offer two prescription drug programs employers may select based on your plan:

  1. Prescription Drug Card
  2. Price Assurance Program

The prescription drug card offers various copay and coinsurance options, based on the drug's tier: generic (the lowest copay), preferred brand (the middle copay), or nonpreferred brand (the highest copay). Copay amounts are determined by the plan your employer selects, and some drugs may not be covered under your plan. View the formulary as a reference tool to assist you and your provider in selecting clinically appropriate and cost-effective drugs. Since many brand-name drugs have generic alternatives available at a lower cost, you may wish to consider generic drugs and mail order when possible.

The Price Assurance Program is a prescription drug discount program through WellPoint NextRx network pharmacies that offers savings at thousands of participating pharmacies nationwide. You simply present your medical ID card to receive the lowest price available in that store, on that day for that drug, as well as generic drug savings and drug utilization review.

Prescription Safeguards

Because WellPoint NextRx and Trustmark Affinity Markets are working together to encourage the safe and appropriate use of medicines, both the prescription drug card and the Price Assurance programs include quantity limits and prior authorization for certain drugs. These limits and authorizations are intended to ensure proper prescription utilization and allow you to receive prescription drugs in clinically appropriate quantities.
